The architectural practice of Massimiliano Gamba was established in 1998 as an experimental studio for all scales of projects, from architectural to industrial object design, with evident poetic connotations.

Personal formative background, select cultural sources of inspiration, explicit referencing of a clear figurative and formal repertory, rationality, a desire to evoke emotions and sensations, all characterize and distinguish the works.

With the passing of time the studio has evolved into a multidisciplinary establishment to meet the challenges of a wide variety of professional commitments related to diverse aspects of design.

Presently the studio offers urban design services, integrated architectural design, project management, interior architecture and industrial design, in both public and private sectors.

The studio’s expertise is aimed at landscape, architecture, interior and design. Our work reaches all the way to the defining of interiors and, in the more radical interventions, in addition to the architectural design, the interiors are conceptualised.

All work is driven by a multidisciplinary philosophical approach that refuses any single predetermined style, in favour of an intimate relation of the work of architecture with its context and its specific function. The course of research is oriented toward the expressive qualities of matter, with a tension toward a synthesis of the design gesture between tradition and innovation, memory and contemporaneity.

The basis of studio endeavours is the conviction that the quality of design derives from the continuity of the design process and from an intense dialog and confrontation; a dialog and confrontation with the client, with the collaborators and specialist consultants, with contractors and the final user, to achieve the best result, which is an integration of the design concept, beauty and functionality.

In the undertaking of commissioned works we follow through all the design phases: from the analytical-conceptual approach to construction phase. Thanks to a consolidated network of partners the Studio offers coordination of services for the project development, from the specialist consulting engineers support (structural and building services) to the design and building of prototypes, from elaboration of three-dimensional models to multimedia communications and project management and supervision of works necessary for completion of the project.

The studio is equipped with the technical resources of hardware and software required for the survey, modelling and representation of the status quo and of the project. The elaboration and development of projects is done in digital format and with an innovative character.

In addition to completing the entrusted professional commissions in both public and private arena, the Studio is busy with architectural competitions that lend themselves as opportunities for experimentation and confrontation of its own design poetics with the city.
